Sunday

new post because i'm sick of the christmas one. i don't think i get many visitors here anyway but whatever.

jace was a holy terror last night. i'm tired of having to get up and rock him back to sleep every time he wakes up so i tried letting him sort it out on his own.. apparently he's not capable of doing so because we were up for HOURS last night. about 5 - 9:30.

there are a couple of schools of thought on baby sleep and i'm not sure what i like best. some people say to let them cry in 5 minute intervals so they learn that you're not going to pick them up every time they want you to. by 6 months, supposedly, they're smart enough to know that you'll do it if they cry. that's the last thing i want, so i'm trying to let jace fuss it out. but it's still so exhausting.

then there are others who say you can't force them to have good sleep habits and you have to get up with them whenever they want you to. these are usually the people i see with 2 - 4 year olds still sleeping in their beds. i don't want that either. i thought i'd miss him sleeping next to me when i decided to move him to the bassinet, but i don't. i like my space it turns out.

anyway. i'm tired is the point to all this. i feel bad hearing him cry but i'm not going to rock him for hours straight and he doesn't really need to eat constantly during the night. hoping to speak to his doctor more on this on tuesday and make sure he's actually gaining weight enough that he doesn't need as many night feedings so i wont feel so bad cutting back on them.

being a mom stinks. :)

jace has been practicing laughing out loud but isn't quite there yet. he has started to grab his toes when there aren't socks on his hands, which i think is pretty cool. i hate having those socks on him but its the least i can do for his poor face.

he's also sitting up pretty well and even does the little baby tripod for about 10 seconds at a time. i can't wait until he can sit on his own.

he's been working fervently on rolling over, he can almost go either way on his own but can't quite figure out how to propel himself that far.

i have read that when they're learning so much it might be harder for them to sleep. maybe that's partially the deal.

most pictures end up on facebook or i'd share more here.

Unfortunately, only you can tell what is best for your baby. And that is going to make you tired! Pray for patience! Hopefully when he's more mobile, he will wear his little self out and sleep better.

Feed the little guy heavy, heavy noms before bed time. And remember that it won't last forever :)

If I let Welly cry it out, he would throw up. Then I'd be cleaning up barf on the side of the crib, so I rarely let him cry it out.

Hilly doesn't barf, he's thing is he never gives up, he's stubborn.

But that stinks! Things will get better!

I hate hate sleep training kids. It is my least favorite thing. Sadie was a horrible sleeper...I read a ton on different methods and this is what we ended up doing - totally worth it!
